Nearby to the elephant orhanage and Carnivore is a park where you can feed the giraffes from a raised platform. The warden gives you a handfull of food pellets and the giraffes come over and take them out of your hand with their incredibly long tongues. They were so tame you could give them a hug (and even a kiss, as you can see from the photo!)
Mathilde was sceptical at first and probably a little horrified by how long their tongues were! She though they were going to eat her hand. However, it didn't take more than 5 minutes and she was feeding the giraffes herself: popping the pellets onto the giraffes' tongues as if she had been doing it all her life!
