24th April - Safari Walk and Crocodile Park
The previous night, we had decided that we would travel back to Norway instead of to Lagos so soon after the presidential elections. In addition to seeing family and friends, this also meant that we could spend another day in Nairobi. We spent it by visiting the Nairobi Zoo (a.k.a. the Safari Walk) and the Crocodile Park.

In the morning we walked round zoo together with a guide. They had most of the interesting animals to see in the zoo, but some of them difficult to see so it was good to have a guide. Daniel liked the water buffalo best, while Erik liked the big cats.

Next we went to the crocodile park and had lunch (no crocodile sandwiches for us this time though). Afterwards, I took the children into the crocodile park while Inger-Lise went shopping. If I had known that the only thing separating the kids from the crocodiles was a wire fence with hand-size holes I would have asked Inger-Lise to help me, though.

In each pool there were 10-20 crocodiles lazing around until one of the guides poked them with a stick. The sound when they snap is like nothing else I've heard - like a hollow, echoing thump. I was relieved when we all got out in one piece.
