This month, Statoil has been staffing up the office here in Lagos. Unfortunately no one to help with the licence administration. It does mean that the social life here on the compound has improved.
In the afternoon, Inger-Lise went to BMS, a health spa behind the American GQ, with Irene and Randi and went on the Pernille's house for champagne afterwards. I went for an hour's walk around Ikoyi with some colleagues and ended up at Pernille's while the others went back for a beer beside the pool at the Statoil compound.
In the evening, we went to Rob and Debbie's for a Film club evening. The idea of the film club is that someone chooses a film they haven't watched before, rents it and pass it round to the others in the group. Everyone meets up one evening for dinner and to discuss the movie; each person gives the move a score 1-10 and says what they liked and disliked about it. Rob and Debbie had chosen The Departed. It was a well made movie with a good plot, but it was just too violent to be enjoyable (I gave it a 6, Inger-Lise gave it 3)
This was the first time we have done the film club and it worked really well. The next evening is scheduled for 29th June - film to be announced!
