Saturday 12th May

Now that the baseball season is over, the school is giving no respite to the parents. This morning there was an "Open School" morning from 8 - 11am. The purpose was to let the parents see what the children had been learning through the year and to get a glimpse of what the next year will be like.

In between visits to the classrooms, there were speeches or poems about change from the student who was voted as the best from each the grades above 3rd grade. The theme was "Changes" and the standard was very high with all the students bubbling over with self-confidence.

After school, we invited Ståle and Hilde for lunch at the GQ and Ståle and I trained together in the gymn.

In the evening, we met up with Tracey & Steward, Petra & Richard and Debbie (Rob was travelling) at Bottles for dinner and mountains of margueritas!

Sunday 13th May
Instead of our usual visit to the beach or the GQ we had lunch at Debonaires Pizza restaurant, which we had not been to before. It had an indoor play area which was fun for the kids. Afterward, I took Erik and Daniel to see Spiderman 3 at the Silverbird Cinema.

Going to the cinema in Nigeria is a real experience. Fortunately we had bought the popcorn and got to the entrance early because the seats were not pre-booked. When the doors opened, I was glad of my rugby training to get through the doors! Once inside, it was not so different from a western cinema and the sound and picture were excellent. The boys enjoyed the film, though I was concerned it was too scary for them.
