On Sunday morning I made and received one phone call - neither were good news.
Daniel had to take his next dose of the malaria cure with breakfast. The previous evening I had followed the instructions on the box for him to take 4 tablets twice a day. 4 sounded like a lot and I checked the instructions in the box. Sure enough, 4 is the adult dose. Daniel should have been taking 2 tablets. I called the hospital and they confirmed that the pharmacist had made a mistake and written the wrong dose on the box. We didn't trust them much before this and now... I kick myself for not having checked the instructions in the first place.
The phone call I received was from the maintenance department; the plumber had arrived amd he was ready to turn off the water. I told them I had turned off the water going into the boiler in the kitchen (if it had run all night we'd have all been swimming by the morning) and that the plumber should come while we were out. When we returned, would you believe it, we found that the boiler in our bathroom (which worked fine) had been removed and the boiler in the kitchen had not been touched. Not only had they not repaired the right boiler, they had stopped us having a shower on Monday morning!
Apart from these discoveries, we had a nice day at the GQ with our American friends Craig and Susan and their children: Mackenzie (8) and Zachary (3). The weather is at its hottest now and lying by a pool is the best way to relax. I managed to get some frustration out of my system by doing some training and a game of tennis with Craig.
When we got back from the GQ, I gave the children their presents from my parents and Caroline. Mathilde got a toy camera and Erik and Daniel got some Star Wars figures. They loved them. Thank you!
