Later on Saturday afternoon, Erik and I caught up with the rest on the beach just in time for lunch: kebabs, quiche and salad washed down with some wine. After lunch, the little ones played in the paddling pool while Erik and some of the adults went to stand in the surf. The waves were smaller than on our last visit but still very powerful. After that the men took off to fish for barracuda in the lagoon. We didn't catch anything, but it was good to sit in the boat and have a cold beer in peace ;-) A hunter waved to us from his boat while we were out and showed us two monkeys he had shot. Poor little things. We also looked out for crocodiles in the mangroves but didn't see anything (they must have seen the hunter coming...).
On the way back to the jetty, Sven asked if anyone fancied water skiing and of course I was game for trying. I managed to get up on the third go, which wasn't bad. I did have one spectacular crash where I fell headfirst into the water with my mouth open. The water is full of silt and not the cleanest you'll find. Still, it was great fun.Jeremy
