With a slight headache after the party at Tom's house, I woke up to the generator switching on at 6:30: the first power cut of the day! It was raining heavily and we were going to the beach!! Well things got better as the day progressed. We set off together with Svein and Lisbeth at mid-day when the weather started to clear up. The journey takes 45 mins through the harbour and along one of the creeks, lined with mangroves. When we arrived, the wives of Big John (the local Chief) carried our bags to the beach and we had some lunch in the beach house. The boys played "Jaba-the-Hut meets the Sand Monster" in the sand under the beach house and Mathilde pottered about and did NOT want to sleep! We had a short walk along the beach and caught one the sand crabs that were scuttling everywhere (he was fed to the Star Wars sand monster).
Time for bed... another week is about to begin....

It is really nice to hear from you Jay. I hope you are all well. I will post some Pics of the Ikoyia club when we go. We had decided not to become members - most people go there for the golf and I (believe it or not) won't really have time for that. But... I have been offered the subscription of a guy who has been here for 6 months and decided to leave (he has just got to the top of the waiting list), so I will probably join after all.
It is "Saturday Sports" [excuse the plural use of the noun] at the school tomorrow and we will probably go to the beach again on Sunday.
Best wishes, Jeremy & Inger-Lise
