On Saturday, Erik and Daniel had their weekly baseball game. Neither of them were that keen at the start of this term, but they have enjoyed it more each week. Their friend, Fredrick was in a swimming competition and we went to cheer for him when baseball was finished. He won a gold medal for backstoke in his class. From 12-1pm, I had a scout leader meeting to plan the events for the rets of the year.
In the afternoon, we went home and headed straight for the pool, where Fredrick joined. He stayed the night for a sleepover. We had sausage and chips and the boys played together. When i put them to bed, the three of them in the same bedroom didn't work so Daniel slept with me. Fredrick had his own bed and Daniel's was free, but they decided to sleep together on the top bunk!
Erik and Fredrick woke at 6am and played playstation until it was time for breakfast - bacon sandwiches for the boys and bacon and egg for me (bacon from the Isle of Man). The rest of the morning they played building house, fancy dress, lego, etc. all over the house with some playstation thrown in now and again (Fredrick had brought over two Star Wars Battlefront games).
At 12:30 we met Fredrick's parents for lunch at the GQ (and a pitcher of frozen Marguerita!) and the boys played in the pool together. Fredrick and his parents had to leave for a BBQ at 2pm. We went back to base and then headed off to the Lekki Conservation centre, for the first time since we went in August. At dusk, the mosiquitos come out but there is a bigger chance of seeing some animals. We smeared ourselves well with repellant and set off for the savanah part of the park for a picnic supper. On the way, Erik climbed the tree house again and this time we saw monkeys in the treetops, which was nice.
Back by the car we visited the big tortoises again, and saw that they had baby tortoises (like they had when we visited back in August). We were a bit sad to see that one of the baby tortoises had a broken leg - probably someone not being careful enough when handling them. Apparently it had happened a month ago when the tortoise was a baby.

How sad. I have asked a friend of mine who works at a vets to see if anyone has any good ideas to help the tortoise.
Glad to see you have been having a nice time though. It sounds so amazing being able to experience all the wildlife so easily. I will be coming over there definately!
All I could suggest was that they stop people picking him up.
There isn't really much exciting wildlife at the conservation centre, but it is nice to visit now and then. Apparently you can see elephants about 2hrs away. We haven't been there yet.
