On Friday night, there was a farewell party for the old MD (Christine Holst) and the welcome party for the new one (Helge Håland): "The king is dead, long live the king!". It was held under a marquee on the tennis court and everyone was invited, from the lowliest Statoil employee to the mightiest American oil company executive. Only Nigerian food was on the menu. The Americans must have found it very strange.

The next day Erik was playing in the "Goodwill Games", a football competition which lasted all day. In between games we had a Den meeting, followed by Cub Scout Leader Training where we got lots of material for our meetings.

After scouts, Inger-Lise watched Erik playing his football and Daniel, Mathilde and I went to the Kingfisher club to watch South Africa play Tonga and England play West Samoa. The SA vs. Tonga match was quite a nail-biter, but the South Africans brought their start player on after the second half and pulled off an exciting performance towards the end of the match.

On Sunday, we had a lazy morning followed by lunch at the GQ. I did an hour of weight training while Mathilde slept and when she woke, Inger.Lise went back to do Norwegian homework with Erik. Poor Erik has lots of homework, but he is taking it well, especially his maths since we told him we would give him "Ratchet and Clank 3" for his Playstation if he improved his Maths "Star Test" level from 1.8 to 3.0.
