6th August - Nigeria via Norway

The first day back in Norway I had planned to got work, but it was nice to change my mind the same morning and play truant from work! The rest of the time in Norway I went to work. The office was still quiet as people were still on holiday and everyone who was at work was talking about the merger of Statoil and Norsk Hydro. While I was at work, Inger-Lise and the children were enjoying seeing their friends.

On Saturday, I took the children to Vaulen Beach for a barbecue, which was nice. They paddled in the sea, climbed trees and ran around. It was nice to see them running free - they have too little of that in Nigeria. Daniel got changed into his swimming shorts and I didn't have a swimsuit for Mathilde, but Erik's seemed to suit her just fine!

The next day, I took the boys up Ullandhaug, the nearest hill for a breakfast picnic. We had a nice walk, although Daniel complained a bit, and the view was fantastic from the top. I really appreciated the cool air, lack of people and clean countryside. The boys appreciated the hot chocolate and biscuits! While we were walking, Inger-Lise started packing the things we had left in the flat and we spent the last few days in a hotel.

On Thursday, Erik had a birthday party with his Norwegian friends. We had it at an indoor playground called Metro Lekeland. Erik and Daniel ran and climbed themselves ragged and had a great time playing with their old friends.

The next day, we were up at the crack of dawn for the Lufthansa flight back to Lagos via Frankfurt. When we arrived in Lagos, it was really nice to see Joy and Salako again. We put the boys to bed and then went straight out to Geir & Irene's housewarming party at their new flat on Banana island.
