Saturday 24th March
At 11am, Erik and I had a cub scout den meeting. Afterward we met the others at the GQ for lunch. Gunn and Inger-Lise were due to leave at 3pm to go to the airport to pick up Rune. However, because of the hightened security precautions ahead of the elections, they were not allowed to go and Rune was met by the drivers and brought back to flat.

While Inger-Lise and Gunn were waiting for Rune, I took Daniel and Erik to Bingo night at AISL. What a fun event this is! We bought 2 bingo cards each on the way in and each card also had a number for a lottery: lot's of prizes! They were selling sausage, pizza, etc. and the popcorn was free. I have to say it was a challenge to manage 6 bingo cards while looking after the two boys and all their friends who came over, but Daniel managed to get BINGO once - he was so proud of his prize. Erik also won a lottery prize, which was nice for him.

The event was so well organised, and the people running it were so full of energy - it was very impressive and great fun. The Americans certainly know how to hold events like this!

The evening didn't stop there! We went back to the flat, met Rune, got Erik and Daniel ready before bed and put "Ace Ventura Pet Detective" on the TV. Then we went out to a pool party held by Traci, one of Inger-Lise's book club friends. Joy babysat.

There were lots of people at the party. She had made Pina Coladas (which I drank all night), vodka-marinaded water melon and every one had brought something to eat. The pool was lit with oil lamps and she had made lamps for the tables by placing candles in brown paper bags filled with sand, which were very effective... until the clouds burst! Fortunately the party had reached critical mass (helped by the cocktails and water melon!) so no-one seemes to mind! Debbie, another book club friend had arranged a blind wine tasting competition which was fun (though my taste buds were well past their optimal level after all the pina coladas - that's my excuse and I am sticking to it!). It was a great evening and Gunn and Rune got a good impression of the social life her in Lagos.
