20th July 2007 - IOM & Ireland
We travelled first class on Eurostar back from Eurodisney, which was very posh (they were the only seats available). On the train Erik made a friend who also had a gameboy spo they could play wireless two player games. From Waterloo, we got the train to Gatwick via Clapham Junction. As we got to our line change, the train to Gatwick arrived, 2 hours delayed because of floods. The platform was packed with people trying to get on, but fortunately we found a friendly guard who squeezed us on the train. From Gatwick we got the plane to the Isle of Man where Grandma and Grandpa were waiting to meet us. Is was great to see them again.
The next day, we lazed around the house before the boys and I went back to the airport to get on the plane for Dublin to see Helen, Donal, Edward and Mathew. Erik and Daniel both got on very well with Edward, but it was Erik who was Edward's hero. It was nice to get to know Mathew. While we were there we went on some nice walks and picked raspberries and the odd early blackberry. It was good to see the house with the new extension as well.
On the second day, Daniel had a temperature and complained of a headache. The worry then is that it is malaria and of course we had left the cure back in Norway. By the evening, I decided to bring him to the hospital to be tested. Helen was great and stayed with us while we waited. At the reception it was strange to be asked my religion! Funnily enough, when the doctor saw Daniel she said that she had a case of malaria early that day. As it happened it wasn't malaria but tonsillitis but they wanted him to spend the night in hospital. That meant that Daniel and I had to share a bed in the children's ward.
On the Tuesday, Donal drove us to the airport on his way to work and we flew back to the Isle of Man. It was nice to see Helen & Donal, albeit for only a long weekend.
